Sparked Donates Copywriting to Victim Services of Durham Region

October 7, 2021

At Sparked, we’re passionate about sharing our expertise in a way that benefits others. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we donated copywriting services to support the Victim Services of Durham Region’s website redesign.

What is Victim Services of Durham Region?

Victim Services of Durham Region (VSDR) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping survivors of crime and tragedy. When the unthinkable happens, VSDR is there.

With a team of counsellors, facilitators, advocates, students and volunteers, VSDR offers crisis response, intervention and prevention services. Their support is free, confidential and delivered without judgment. VSDR is there to hold survivors’ hands and help them rebuild their lives, in the aftermath of tragedy, crime or historical victimization.

The organization also offers expertise in human trafficking prevention and intervention, and provides training, presentations and workshops for youth and service providers.

How did we help?

Working closely with the VSDR’s leadership team over the summer of 2021, our Co-Founder and Head of Content, Karina Barker, developed and wrote copy for their new website.

Provided as a pro bono service, Karina’s work involved helping the organization craft their brand voice and clarify their messaging. She then wrote copy for all web pages: Home, Programs, Get Involved, About and Contact.

Carly Kalish, Executive Director of Victim Services of Durham Region said, “Working with Karina was great. She took the time to understand our organization’s vision and services, and then captured that with impactful and engaging copy. We’re grateful for her compassion, professionalism and care.”
