About the Client
The Siminovitch Theatre Foundation recognizes, invests in, connects, and inspires Canadian theatre artists who are redefining the stage. The Siminovitch Prize, awarded to a mid-career professional whose work is transformative and influential, is Canada’s highest-valued theatre award. By providing life-changing financial resources, public recognition, and exposure, the Prize aims to stimulate innovation and creative risk-taking in theatre.

The Challenge
When Siminovitch Theratre Foundation was referred to Sparked, they were on the precipice of change. Formerly called Siminovitch Prize, they wanted to undertake a rebrand to communicate the wider value they provide to the Canadian theatre community. They had engaged a branding firm to develop a new logo and brand strategy, and they needed a website to support it. At the same time, they were ready to modernize their existing website’s user experience. They chose Sparked for the job.

The Solution
To tackle this project, our team began by getting to know the Foundation’s work and researching the industry. Ready with this deeper knowledge, we drafted copy for the website that would mirror their envisioned brand voice and showcase their unique value. From there, we created designs that introduced their new brand elements and the high-quality videos they had recently produced. The goal was to make a visual impact, while communicating information in a clear way and inspiring action.
A challenge they had faced with their previous website was difficulty locating information quickly and intuitively. So, particular emphasis was given to creating a smooth user experience through a well-crafted information architecture and thoughtful UX/UI design.
When it came time for development, it was important that the website be available in both English and French. To achieve this, our development team implemented a translation platform and applied translations sitewide. The site also features an integrated donation platform, multi-step forms, search capabilities, and a newsletter signup.

The Results
The final website is dynamic and visually stunning, reflecting Siminovitch’s vision and inspiring visitors to take action. Today we continue to host and maintain the website, and support their SEM and SEO programs.
